Go green: sustainability and the future of shopping

Updated: Dec 13, 2021

At The Little Vanilla Pod we like to think we are adding as few pollutive elements to the environment as possible.

It makes sense then that our packaging is home compostable plant based "plastic' as are our shipping mailers also.

You can put your used packaging in your own home compost or worm farm, containing heat, water, oxygen, soil and micro-organisms. They can also be disposed of in a commercial composting facility if you have one in your area.

Compost trials have shown that our packaging can break down into small fragments in as little as 16 weeks. However, the rate of breakdown will vary depending on the compost environment, temperature and humidity.

You can even bury our packaging in your garden. But note that it will break down at a slower rate than it would in a compost environment containing heat, water, oxygen, soil and micro-organisms.

As they say 'every little helps...', as we continue our journey we will endeavour to expand our current limitations and stretch to further green horizons.
